158 Trooper A E Chappell, B Squadron, 14th (The King's) Hussars. His squadron sailed on the Cestrian, and landed in Cape Colony on 10 Jan 1900. They were deployed with the Kimberley relief force. Tpr Chappell was killed in action on the Modder River, Cape Colony. He was buried in the military cemetery at Modder River. His remains were later reinterred in West End Cemetery, Kimberley.
