Edna Woodford, 97, of Lynnwood, Washington passed away November 20, 2000. She was born July 22, 1903 in Farley, Iowa, one of ten children born to Joseph and Winifred Higgs. In 1903 she moved with her family to South Dakota. She married Montie L. Woodford June 24, 1924. They raised four children. In 1985 she moved to Lynnwood, Wash. to make her home with her eldest daughter, Nina Stainbrook. She was always young at heart and she enjoyed countless hobbies. She had a passion for her vegetable and flower gardens, little theater, oil painting, baseball and lake fishing. She was an accomplished seamstress and she turned all her scraps into beautiful patchwork quilts or braided rugs. Her parents were gifted musicians and music was her great joy. At age thriteen she joined the Higgs' family band and started playing the pump organ for barn dances. She shared this gift with family and friends. She became a volunteer entertainer and visited Senior Centers and Rest Homes playing the organ, piano, accordion or the violin on a regular basis. In January 1994 she moved into the Lynnwood Manor Convalescent Center. At the age of 92 she became the resident piano player. She was proceded in death by her parents; sibling Montie; son Jordon Woodford; daughter Loraine Abernathy; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include daughters Nina Stainbrook and Veda Johnson, both of Lynnwood, Wash.; 5 nephews and families; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 14 great- great grandchildren. Arrangements entrusted to Purdy and Walters, Floral Hills, Lynnwood, Wash. and Luze Funeral Home in Highmore, South Dakota; burial in Oakland Cemetery, Seneca, South Dakota
