Bennett Kelly Bloodworth II passed the morning of July 22, 2020 with the comfort of his wife at their home. He was known by his friends and family as Benny. Benny fought cancer with courage and bravery and left this world too soon. Benny leaves behind his devoted wife, Renee Williamson Bloodworth and their son, Gordon Bennett Bloodworth II. Benny had the honor of being a father to Jordan (Michael), Natalie and Luke and a Papa to Grayson and Carson. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Bennett Kelly Bloodworth and Cammy Rooks Bloodworth; sister, Lyndsey Buchanan (Duane); nieces Lilly and Ali Buchanan; and beloved Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Benny was a lifelong resident of Pender County, growing up on his family's farm in “Gods County.” He grew up to become an avid sportsmen hunting and fishing and became a faithful steward of the land and rivers he hunted and fished. Benny always said that a true test to a man's worth is how he is remembered. He has certainly provided many reasons with his actions and deeds. Benny will be remembered for a long time, to come for his extension work with the Blueberry industry, coaching youth football with the Pender Patriots, being a member of the Atkinson Lodge 612 A.F. & A.M., for his lifelong involvement with Boy Scouts to which he achieved the rank of Eagle. Benny was a devoted brother of the Delta Alpha Chapter Kappa Alpha Order. A member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the NRA. He was passionate about being a husband, father, son, friend and coach.
After graduating from Western Carolina, Benny came back home to work as an Extension agent through the cooperative extension as part of his employment with NCSU Plant Pathology department working primarily with Blueberries and Muscadines. He enjoyed his time as a Cub Scout leader with his son Luke's Cub Scout pack. He led last year’s Pender Patriot flag football team to the playoffs, finishing second in the league while he was fighting cancer. He was so proud of his “boys” they may have well as won the Superbowl.
