Irene Ann Cobb, age 82 of Stuart was born to Edward and Mary Jansen on July 17, 1938 in Atkinson, Nebraska.

She died peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

Irene graduated from St Joseph Catholic school in Atkinson where she was a member of the cheerleading team and drama guild.

She was wed to Larry Cobb on April 14th, 1958 and they resided in Fort Polk, Louisiana until Larry completed his service in the Army. They eventually moved to a small farm in Stuart, Nebraska, where they started their family. Larry and Irene’s marriage was blessed with four children, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

After graduating from Joseph’s Cosmetology school in Norfolk she opened her own beauty salon called Sam’s Place, where she thoroughly enjoyed the time with the patrons that supported her. As time passed, she joined the family business, Cobb Motors.

Irene adored the town of Stuart and was involved in the Community Club, Parkside Manor Board, Village Manor Board, and Christian Mothers. She especially enjoyed her time at Tasty Foods Drive-In, visiting and working with the youth of the community and always supported them in their activities in Stuart. She was humble and kind and always had a smile and a kind word. She always opened her doors to anyone during the holidays, especially her favorite holiday, the Fourth of July.

She was fully committed to her faith in God, her family and friends, and she loved them all deeply. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were extremely special to her and brought her so much joy. She enjoyed camping with them at Fort Randall and their annual winter family ski trip. She was the rock of the family and the glue that held them all together. She always took pride in her appearance and carried it throughout her life.

She is survived by her children, Perri of Stuart, Kelly (Kris) of Omaha, Jane (Curt) Andersen of Kearney, and Gina of Rising City. Grandchildren Justin and Mackenzie Farr of Gretna, Lyndie Farr of Omaha, Garrett Farr of Omaha, Stephanie and Chance Svoboda of Glenville, Mitch and Becca Cobb of Omaha, Lauren Cobb of Omaha, Jason (Alicia) Butterfield of Kearney, Trey (Morgan) Andersen of Lincoln, Kyle Andersen of Omaha, Tyler Thurlow of Mesa and Chelsea (Riley) Kosmicki of Grant.
