Richard Dale King, age 88, of Buffalo, MO passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Buffalo Prairie Care Center in Buffalo, Missouri. Richard was born to Sherman and Edna (Wood) King on November 21,1931 in Springfield, Missouri. He joined the United States Army on February 14, 1952 earning multiple medals and stars during his service. These included the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. After leaving the Army, Richard worked as a farmer, a hod carrier, brick layer, and in construction for many years. On June 15, 1960 he married Carol Hall and to this union three children were born.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Edna; two brothers, Kenneth and Howard; two sisters, Polly Hunter and Doris Hitchcock; one son, Wade King; and his wife of 50 years, Carol King.

Survivors include two sisters, Shirley Young of Ozark, Missouri and Wanda Colbertson of Fair Play, Missouri; one son, Timothy King of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter, Karen King of Long Lane, Missouri; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Elkland, Missouri with Ken Glor officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Yeargan, Adam Yeargan, Aaron Boland, and JD Hunter. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Thursday, July 23, 2020 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri.
