Anchorage resident ANITA CAROL ''SANDY'' ADAMS died Jan. 20, 2001, at the Providence Alaska Medical Center. Her family described her as ''76 years young.'' A memorial service was held at Faith Christian Community Church, formally Faith Baptist Church, 4240 Wisconsin St., with the Rev. Walter Davidson officiating.

Mrs. Adams, ''Sandy'' to her friends, was born Anita Carol Froelich, on Jan. 27, 1924, in Los Angeles. She had been a resident of Alaska since 1946. In her younger years she enjoyed skiing, roller-skating, ice-skating and horseback riding. She enjoyed creating outfits and dressing her children for Fur Rendezvous and Fourth of July parades. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a Brownie leader. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and the Pioneers of Alaska. She went on many excursions in the motor home with her husband and family, traveling extensively in the Lower 48 and throughout Alaska. She enjoyed a great deal of time at the family homestead and on weekend boating and fishing trips in Seward. She loved to travel, paint and had a special place in her heart for animals.'' Her family described her as a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by many lifelong friends and family, including her husband of 55 years, Kenneth R. Adams; her five children, Jim, Bruce, Nancy, Tom and Ed; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and sister, Verna Chose of Palm Springs, Calif. Arrangements were by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes & Crematory.
