Rbt Tinker came here to work for his friends widow who had inherited her husbands reaper factory
He fell in love with Mary, they were married.
He built Tinker Swiss Cottage for her and built a suspended
bridge across the creek to her mansion on the other side.

After Mary died, Robert married her niece, Jesse.

Jesse donated the cottage to Rockford Park District in her
will.

Tinker Swiss Cottage is very famous worldwide.

Tinker built in 1865. Per missonary records he was born 12/31/1836 in Hawaii but some census listed NY, the Sandwich Islands, Hanover, as well as Hawaii.
