On last Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock funeral services were conducted by Rev. Horace L. Villee, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, at the home of Mrs. Trigg Thomas for Grover C. Boyd, who died at his home in Memphis. Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. The remains were brought to Winona from Memphis on No. 3 Friday. Interment was made in Oakwood cemetery.
Mr. Boyd was forty-nine years old, a native of McComb. At the time of his death he was district manager of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York. Previous to that, he was Tennessee General Agent for the Lamar Life Insurance Company of Jackson, Miss.
The deceased was a graduate of Mississippi College. Twenty years ago, he married Alice Mitchell, of Winona, sister of Mrs. Trigg Thomas. To this union two daughters were born, Martha Jane, now 16, and Alymeda, 8. He was a Shriner and also a member of St. John's Methodist church of Memphis.
Besides his widow and two daughters he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd of McComb, three sisters, Mrs. W. A. Smith of Panther Burn, Mrs. J. W. Dunnaway of Anguilla and Mrs. Walter Thornhill of Columbia and by five brothers, Hailey, Harwell and Lucas Boyd of McComb, J. L. Boyd of Vicksburg and Vasco Boyd of Okolona City.
