Mr. Hampton died Wednesday, Sept. 17, at his home.
He was born Feb. 14, 1901, in Sumner, the son of Andrew and Lena (Howell) Hampton.
He was married to the former Anna Murray, and she preceded him in death in 1970.
He is survived by three daughters, Juanita Christian of Mobile, Ala., and Rose Bridwill and Ethel Umfleet, both of Sumner; a brother, Herbert Hampton of Sumner; a sister, Lula Brush of Olney, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a daughter.
Mr. Hampton worked for the B&O Railroad until his retirement.
