Donald Eugene "Don" Prince, 80, died Friday, July 24, 2020. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, in the Chapel of Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron, with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM and funeral service at 3:00 PM with Dr. Lawrence Kirk officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Please be respectful of Mr. Prince's family and others by observing current guidelines concerning social distancing.
Born in Butler to the late Albert Lester Prince and Alma Youngblood Prince, Mr. Prince grew up on a farm and loved the outdoors and gardening. He served in the United States Army for six years, and during that time he served in Berlin, Germany. He was employed for 30 years with Norfolk Southern Railway and upon retirement had achieved the job of conductor.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 55 years, Neidra Harris Prince; their children, Donnie Prince, Michelle Paton (Steve), and Tommy Prince (Michelle); grandchildren, Jim Prince, Delana Prince, Samantha Prince, Lauren Mullis (Dustin), Autumn Gunter, and Caleb Woods; great grandchildren, Gracie Prince, Jackson Prince, Addie Prince, Kenzie Mullis, Nora Mullis, Natalie Green, Noah Hayden, and Jameson Woods; brothers and sisters, Tressie Manderson, Leon Prince, Jeanette Hough, Bernard Prince (Bobbie), and Rick Prince; and numerous nieces, nephews and many more family members and friends.
