MARTHA LEE RODGERS BROWN, age 74, Grandview Drive, Cynthiana, wife of James A. "Jim" Brown, died Saturday, August 26, 2006, at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Born in Hopkins County on September 28, 1931, to the late Breton Dewitt and Madelyn Fugate Rodgers, she was a nursing home administrator since 1969, having previously owned Martin's Nursing Home and Shady Lawn Personal Care and current owner of Grand Haven Nursing Home.

Martha attended Western Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was a member of the Cynthiana Baptist Church, Democratic Woman's Club and Harrison County Democratic Executive Committee. Golf, bridge clubs and boating were a few of Martha's hobbies, and she loved all types of sports. She was a former Sunday school teacher in Madisonville and former Girl Scout leader. One of Martha's most gratifying accomplishments was having been chosen as Citizen of the Year by the Cynthiana-Harrison County Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home by Rev. Wayne Spivey. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Entombment will be held at the convenience of the family in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison Memorial Hospital Building Fund, 1210 KY Highway 36 E, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
