Mervyn 'Merv' Barrington-Foote
1926 - 2008

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father Mervyn Grenfell Barrington-Foote on May 14, 2008. He joins his beloved wife, Lorraine (1999) and his son Stephen (1983) He is survived by his 2 sons Randy & Norman; daughter Lori Teichman, a grandson and two great-grandchildren. Born on June 7, 1926, he was the youngest of seven children. He spent his early years moving around the Province as his father was a BC Policeman. At the young age of 18 he joined the army near the end of the war. He met the love of his life Lorraine at a dance in Burnaby and settled down with her to raise a family. They spent many good years on a Hobby farm in Whonnock, Maple Ridge where he could pursue his love of animals. Eventually they settled in Squamish where they opened Merv Foote's Mens Wear. Many happy years were spent travelling, summers at the cabin at Canim Lake, good times with friends and family, and of course football. The BC Lions have lost one of their most faithful fans. After Lorraine passed away he moved to West Vancouver and spent the last six years being an avid fan of his grandchildren's sports. He was a good and generous person. Showed amazing strength throughout his life, and will always be remembered for his sense of humor and love of family and friends. While we will miss his presence, the true spirit of him will live within forever. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Squamish Funeral Chapel.
