Charles Irvin Graves
Thursday, December 26th, 1929 - Wednesday, July 29th, 2020
On Wednesday, July 29, Charles Irvin Graves passed away at Legacy Heights Nursing & Rehab in Russellville Arkansas. He enjoyed reminding everyone that he was 90 years old. Charles was born in Ludwig, north of Clarksville Arkansas, on December 26, 1929 to Irvin Jefferson and Violet Gaynelle (Park) Graves.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 55 years, Irene (Whitfield) Graves.
He resumed operation of his dairy farm. He was famously proud of his prize-winning Guernsey herd. Charles was an optician at the Gardner-Mobley Clinic in Russellville and later at the Russellville Eye Clinic for 29 years. He loved Tennessee Walking Horses and usually had one or two on the farm. He loved to play the organ and piano for friends and family, and he loved the Lord.
He had many cousins and lifelong friends who loved him for his easy wit and giving nature.
Charles is survived by a daughter, Merita Graves Combs, and a son, Hal Whitfield Graves and wife, Melissa (Davis) Graves, who looked after her father in law tirelessly, all of Clarksville. He is survived by three grandchildren, Kayla Brooke Graves Cote' and Harlan Zachary Graves of Clarksville and Hunter Tinsley and his wife Samantha (Sharum) Combs of Greenwood, and one great-grandchild, Zosia Louise Cote'.
The family will hold a private service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers you may make a memorial donation to Kindred Hospice.
