Cyril Eugene Sweeney was born on September 30 1897, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Michael G. Sweeney and Catherine Polt, and the brother of Theresa (Sister M. Florentine, IHM), Cyril Eugene, Michael C., Edgar, Catherine, Robert, and Charles Richard. In 1918 he registered for the WWI draft, and worked as an accountant for The Delaware and Hudson Railway in Carbondale, PA.
Cyril married Mabel A. Campbell on August 18, 1928 in Scranton, PA, by Reverend J. J. Loughran. They were the parents of at least two sons, Thomas and Joseph. He retired from the Diamond K. Company.
Cyril died on February 12, 1984 at the Mercy Hospital in Scranton, and was buried in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, PA.
