Tobias Uriah Dowdy, prominent Dodge County citizen of Rhine, died at his home February 24 following two years of ill health. He was 76 years old and engaged in farming. He was a native of Dodge County.
Funeral services were conducted at Hopewell Baptist Church February 26 at 11 a.m. by the pastor. Hymns were sung by Carey Hilliard, Jess Hilliard and Tom Hilliard.
Casket bearers were George Dowdy, Alf Burnham, Thomas Jones, Thomas McCranie, Sam Hilliard and Tuck Yancey. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sallie Walker and Mrs. Maybel Brown; three sons, Juel, Hez and Marvin Dowdy, and one sister, Miss Sara Dowdy.
