Dave was a very special man who lived his life with enthusiasm and charm. Even lighting a campfire was fun with Dave.

Dave grew up on a farm in Ohio. Summers were spent canoeing the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of northern Minnesota and participating in numerous Boy Scout activities. After high school graduation, Dave served three years in the United States Army. He was stationed on the remote St. Lawrence Island with the security agency where he was a high speed Morse code interceptor. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Dave returned to Ohio, where he attended and graduated from Ohio University.

Dave accepted a position with a major oil company immediately out of college. In 1976, Unocal asked Dave to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska. There, he met the love of his life, Louise Muriel Johnson. They married in 1979 and enjoyed over 40 happy years together.

He transferred several times over the years with Unocal, ending up in Los Angeles, Calif. During his over 34 years with Unocal, Dave moved up through many management positions. He cared deeply for his family, friends and his co-workers at Unocal.

During these years, the family lived in South Pasadena. He was very active in Rotary and served on several commissions with the city. He had a quick wit and a big laugh. He could carry on a conversation with almost anyone.

After retiring, Dave loved playing golf and doubles tennis both in Anchorage during the summers and at the winter home he and Louise bought in Tucson, Ariz. Children and grandchildren joined Dave and Louise in Alaska each summer to enjoy camping, fishing and exploring our great state. One summer, 17 family members traveled 1800 miles in Alaska for two weeks in three motorhomes having great adventures. Dave was known for loving his ice cream and making his excellent margaritas.

Dave is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter, Pamela Sue (Ed Ekmark); son, Kevin Scott (Lindsay); and 13 grandchildren, Everett, Elissa, Parker Lee, Riley Ann, Pierce Scott, Lily, London, Duane, Scott, Summer, Reyanne, Austin Scott and Brooke. Dave was predeceased by his daughter, Laurie Jackson; and son, David Scott Jr. A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery, 440 East Klatt Road in Anchorage. A celebration of Dave's life will follow at the home of friends. Cheers to a life well lived.
