Obituary--Garnett Plaindealer & Anderson Co. Republican--24 Feb 1899 p 8--Died. February 3d 1899, Edward A. Campbell, often spoken of as Late Campbell. The deceased was born near this city in the year 1878, and consequently was but little over twenty years of age. For the past few years he had made his home with Jacob Askins and family, on the North Fork, but about a week previous to his death he moved to Theodore Steinbacher's, where he had secured employment for the coming summer months. He suffered a severe attack of the grip, followed closely by the measles. Prematurely leaving his bed, a fresh cold was contracted, when brought on a relapse and finally merged into brain fever, which was the cause of his sudden death. He was loved and respected by all who knew him, and was a capable and industrious young man. The family extend their heart-felt thanks to those who so kindly assisted in caring for him during his last illness.
