Of interest to many Villagers is the announcement of the marriage of frequent winter visitor Clara Lee Kuhrts, daughter of Mrs. Alfonse A. Burnand, Jr. of Del Mar and Borrego Springs, and George Kuhrts, Jr. of Los Angeles, to Charles Jerome (Domie) Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Ferdinand Smith of Beverly Hills.

The couple, whose engagement was announced in December 1947, were married April 1, 1948 in the Smith residence. The wedding came as a complete surprise to their many friends since a large wedding had been planned in June.

Mrs. Patricia Kuhrts Pummer was her sister's matron of honor and Valorie Haughton was flower girl. Maurice Olivier was best man. Rev. Louis H. Evans of the Hollywood Presbyterian church officiated. Only members of the families were present.
