The daughter of John L. Rogers and Selina A. Ratcliff. Adelia married Shreveport attorney, James Pinckney Harris and they had two known daughters: Julia (died in 1870) and Josie Harris Hooker who died in Memphis on 14 July 1934.

J. Pinckney Harris was a major force in the Reconstruction era Republican party. He not only represented Shreveport in this manner, but the Feliciana Parishes as well. He lead the party in securing votes for African Americans, both they and organizers faced a barrage of Democrat hatred during the 1876 election. Fall out from forged certificates continued until 1878, unfortunately, J. P. contracted yellow fever while traveling to and from New Orleans to Bayou Sara and died of the disease on 4 Nov 1878.
