A memorial service will be Tuesday at Neely's Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Heiko Burklin and Jan Senneker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
A native of Lancaster County, S.C., Elise was the daughter of the late James Walter and Mary Alice Hilton Welsh and the widow of Robert Major Ackerman. A member of Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church, she had served in the Women of the Church and was a member of the Emma Echols Sunday school class.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Welsh Ackerman of Rock Hill, Jack Larry Ackerman and wife, Betty of Thomasville, Ala., and John Charles Ackerman and wife, Karen of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; five grandsons, Scott Ackerman (Wendy) and Stacey Ackerman (Tammy) of Thomasville, Ala., Brady Ackerman (Michele) of Ocalla, Fla., Ryan Ackerman (Shanna) of Richmond, Va., and Jack Ackerman of Orlando, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Ty, Tess Elise, Liam, Lauren, Brendon, Preston and Gabby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elise was preceded in death by her son, Patrick Lee Ackerman; three brothers, James Walter Welsh Jr., Thomas Jennings Welsh and John Rushing Welsh; and five sisters, Harriet Welsh Baer, Grace Welsh Funderburk, Nell Welsh Faile, Azalee Welsh Roberts and Helen Lee Welsh.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church, 974 Neely's Creek Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
