Audrey Mae Abney (Cramer), 90 of Higginsville, Missouri met her Heavenly Father on Friday, August 6, 2020, at her home.
Born Tuesday, June 3, 1930 in Sedalia, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Orville Cramer and the late Alene Cramer (Wagner). She was the wife of the late Lloyd Abney, marrying September 25, 1949. They had 63 wonderful years before his passing. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2012.
Audrey graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, class of 1948 and moved to Higginsville in 1966. She spent 55 years as an Avon representative, earning herself a spot as one of the most tenured and oldest Avon Representatives in the United States. She was a proud and active Avon rep. with customer orders still arriving in the mail even after her passing. Audrey spent many years as a Para-professional assisting teachers for the Lafayette County C-1 School District. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school for 60+ years, singing for many funerals and services, and teaching Bible School.
Audrey enjoyed playing cards with friends and loved her Magnolia Manor community. She enjoyed traveling with Lloyd and went on many trips later in life. She loved going on golfing trips with Lloyd and would actively play golf, but made it clear the sport of golf was not near as much fun as the golf trip itself. Most of all she loved her family; she never missed a chance to attend a sporting or school event for her children and grandchildren. She was loved by so many, and will be sorely missed.
Surviving are one son, Steve (Cathy) Abney of Warrensburg, MO; one daughter, Dawn (Kevin) Sanders of Higginsville; eight grandchildren, Heather Abney, Courtney Abney, Bryan (Cara) Abney, Marshall (Jessie) Abney, Chelsea (Jake) Johnson, Kyle (Erin) Sanders, Casey (Aubrey) Sanders, Cody Sanders (fiancee' Abby Turnbull).
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Abney; one son,Terry Abney; and one daughter-in-law, Cyndi Abney.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2020 in the multi-purpose building at First Baptist Church in Higginsville with Rev. Greg Fine officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Casket Bearers: Marshall Abney, Kyle Sanders, Casey Sanders, Cody Sanders, Jake Johnson, Bryan Abney. Honorary Casket Bearer: Heather Abney, Courtney Abney, Chelsea Johnson.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church. Services are open to the public but masks are mandated and social distancing needs to be followed.
