Richard was 70years old and had lived on SandPiper Drive. He was a certified public accountant. He passed at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Patricia J. (Pease) Otrando.

Born in Providence, a son of the late John and Kathleen (Holmes) Otrando, he lived in Warwick before moving to West Warwick ten years ago. He graduated from the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Boston in 1959 and in 1965 he attained the coveted certificate of Certified Public Accountant. His career in accounting began as a staff accountant with Henri L. Brindamour, C.P.A. a position he held for two years before being admitted as a partner in the firm. Richard presently was serving as a partner with the firm of Otrando Porcaro and Associates of Warwick.

He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; a past president of the RI Society of Certified Public Accountants and a former chairman of the States Licensing Board of Accountancy. Over the course of his career, Richard served as a consultant, board member or general officer of many social and professional organizations including, but not limited to, the Executives Association of RI, the Newport Yacht Club and Valley Country Club. He was a mason and a member of Warwick Lodge 16 F&AM, now affiliated with Mount Vernon Lodge 4, and of the Rhode Island Shriners. As an active mason he shared his professional expertise by serving on numerous Masonic investment and financial committees. He was an avid golfer for over forty years and an avid sailor who for the past forty years enjoyed many hours on the Bay and in RI Sound both cruising and racing competitively. He also was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Greenwich.

Besides his wife is survived by four children Julie A. Brunelle and Brian H. Otrando both of Warwick, Heather M. Otrando of Brooklyn, NY and Andrew R. Sleister of Pawtucket; two brothers, Anthony Otrando of Providence and Robert Otrando of Warwick and four grandchildren, Chris Costa, Arthur Brunelle III, Emily and Nathan Otrando. He was the brother of the late Barbara Bailey.
