MRS. TAFT DEAD.
Mrs. Annie Maria Taft was born June 20th, 1852, died November 6th, 1916. January, 1881 she was united in the marriage with J. S. Taft at Terre Haute, Ind. They left Indiana shortly after their marriage and located in Iowa where the lived about four years, and from thence to Oklahoma. They settled on a homestead ten miles Northwest of Clinton, and remained there until about eight years ago at which time Mr. Taft was called home.
To this union was born three daughters, Ruth, Elsie and Sadie, two of whom have been called home. The last one, Mrs. Sadie Lucas with her little son is the only surviving one of the family.
Mrs. Taft became a Christian at the age of seventeen years, and never lost sight of the Savior whom she had taken as her friend and Leader. Her life has revealed anew and power of His grace, and Christ has proven sufficient for every time of need. Her life was characterized by patience, meekness, gentlness (sic) and love; she lived well, and is therefore deserving of the glorious crown awaiting her. Funeral services were held at the Christian church November 6th at three o'clock, and interment was made at the Sayre cemetery near to the old homestead where the father, two daughters and a grandchild lie at rest.
