Dennis Lee Allison, 79, of South Hutchinson, died August 5, 2020, at Mennonite Friendship Communities. He was born January 21, 1941, in Hutchinson, to Lloyd S. and Charlotte L. (Edwards) Allison.

Dennis graduated from Nickerson High School in 1959. He attended Hutchinson Community College, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from McPherson College, Master of Arts in Administration of Justice from Wichita State University, and Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice Management from LaSalle University. Dennis also served in the Air National Guard and was a member of several professional organizations.

He was the Reno County Undersheriff from 1972-1978 as well as working in other law enforcement positions in western Kansas. Dennis taught criminal justice at Hutchinson Community College and Colby Community College.

He is survived by: children, Mitchell Lloyd Allison, Michael Lee Allison, Deedra Kay Allison; a niece and a nephew; and several cousins.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Judith Allison and Janice Allison Chambers Brown.

Cremation has taken place. Private graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2020, in the Sylvia Cemetery, Sylvia, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67601.
