He also served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill was the founder of Wholesale Tire Inc. in 1950 and worked tirelessly until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg, a member of the WVU Booster Club and enjoyed their football and basketball at the University immensely. He was a workaholic, but did take time to enjoy golf in his spare time, especially at the Clarksburg Country Club. Bill was a former member of the AAA board, former member of the Clarksburg County Club board, and was very instrumental in the formation of the WV Tire Dealer Association. He was also an avid classical music fan, waking the house with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture in the wee hours of the morning and especially enjoyed the hymns of the Mormom Tabernacle Choir.
Most importantly, Bill's family, with heartfelt gratitude would like to extend a very special thank you to all of his caregivers who helped him in these later years.
