Henry M. Franklin, a resident of Atchison county for the past fifty years, died at his home in Huron Sunday, following an illness of several weeks. He was seventy-two years old and was well known throughout the county. Burial was held Monday at Robinson.
Mr. Franklin was born in Estelville, Va. He moved to Kentucky when a young man. He served in the Union army during the Civil War. Following the war he went to Decatur, Ill. where he was married to Rachel C. Bates.
The couple came to Atchison ion 1866, later moving to Huron, where Mr. Franklin lived until his death. He was known as an honest, industrious man and has made many friends during his residence at Huron.
