Marjorie Pope Stradling DeLong, 94, of Chandler AZ, formerly of Cedar Rapids, IA and born in Taos, NM,

passed away Friday, August 7th, 2020 in Gilbert, Arizona where she lived with her youngest daughter.

Preceded in death by husbands: Alden Reid Stradling and Richard Peter DeLong, parents: William A Pope and Essie Pope, siblings: William A Pope Jr, David G Pope, Betty Harris, Diana DeWitt, Stanley Pope, son Alden Ryan Stradling and great-granddaughters Cesily Rice and Ariel Hentshel.

Marje is survived by her brother Gordon Pope (Irene), children: Bruce H Stradling (Krystyna), Gary L Stradling (Rebecca), Joanne South, Dann L Stradling (Alissa), Rebecca S Gugeler (James), Ellen S Burgoyne (Eric) as well as 40 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Marje touched many lives. She loved being a mother and grandmother.

She served tirelessly in her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in many capacities, as a great leader of the women in the church and as a missionary on 7 different missions: proselyting in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Portland, Oregon; and London, England; temple service in Atlanta, Georgia and Chicago, Illinois, a Jobs Service Mission in the Des Moines, Iowa and served in the mission office and taught English as a 2nd language in Copenhagen, Denmark.

She grew up in New Mexico, and raised her family in Belen, New Mexico; Ponca City, Oklahoma; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Duluth, Minnesota; Albuquerque, New Mexico and Wichita, Kansas.

After retirement, she lived in Nickerson, Minnesota; Atlanta, Georgia, and Chandler, Arizona.

Marje loved to travel all over the world and loved to read and to learn! She made friends wherever she went, and many of them traveled to visit her in Iowa, Georgia, and Minnesota.

Private services will be conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Trailridge Ward Building,4300 Trailridge Rd SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, August 22nd at 2:00 pm. Viewing is 1 hour prior to service and the burial will take place at Cedar Memorial cemetery following.
