WATERVILLE - Prinella "Prin" Mitchell, 88, passed away on Sat., Sept. 5, 2015 as a result of a fall at her home. Prinella was born on Oct. 31, 1926 in Waterville the daughter of Wilfred and Grace McPhail Dostie Prin grew up in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School where she was a proud member of her high school drama club and the school's head cheerleader. In the workplace she distinguished herself with long careers at the Federal Trust Company and Waterville Junior High School. As an avid accomplished baker Prin loved to share with others the fruits of her labor. She loved her camp on Messalonskee Lake where one would never have guessed that she could not swim the way she enjoyed watching her children and nieces having fun on the lake and preparing the food for another celebration. She cherished her time in Key Biscayne, Fla., spending countless hours reading her prayer book and looking so elegant in her wide brimmed hat while staring out at the ocean. And each winter Prinella was the consummate Colby basketball fan, enjoying all the wins and feeling the losses just as hard as her dear friend, Coach Dick Whitmore. Prinella married the love of her life, John "Swisher" Mitchell ad for 63 years they lived a special life together, a team admired by many and a marriage filled with great joy and accomplishment. It was her unconditional love for John, her family and her home where she flourished. What made her truly unique was how much more she cared for others above any of her own interests. Prin instantly captured the respect of everyone she touched, always maintaining a true personification of elegance and a very special quiet dignity. Prin was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Bruce Dostie, three sisters, Anita Popolizio, Jean Talbot and Lorraine Stewart; and three brothers-in-law, Edward Atkins, Dominic Popolizio and Robbie Mitchell. She is survived by her husband, John Mitchell; her three daughters, Susan Mitchell (and partner Bob Asselin), Jane Bolduc (and her husband Danny Bolduc), Rebecca Brandwein (and husband Lee Brandwein); four grandchildren, Danielle Marquis (and husband Matt Marquis), Rebecca Bolduc, Zachary Brandwein and Alizah Brandwein ; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Bolduc and Mitchell Marquis. She is also survived by eight sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean Dostie, Roland Talbot, Paul and Yvette Mitchell, Janet Mitchell, Barbara Atkins, and George and Heather Mitchell. Finally and certainly not forgotten, Prin is also survived by many, many very special nieces and nephews and all of their children and her Honorary Son, Chris Vickers. Grammy Prin loved her family so dearly and beamed whenever any of them were around.
