Mrs. Clara E. Lewis, 88, sister of the late Harry Chandler, former publisher of The Times, died Friday at a Glendale hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Lewis, a former resident of San Fernando, lived at the hospital in recent years. She leaves two sons, Fred and Harry Dennis; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Thompson, and numerous other relatives, including her nephew, Norman Chandler, board chairman and president of The Times Mirror Co. Private graveside services will be Monday.
