Marie Ayotte (Willett) Belanger died on April 10, 2017, at the age of 96 years old. Mrs. Belanger was born in Hamlin Plantation on June 20, 1920, and was the daughter of Edmund Cyrille and Annie Marie Ouellette Ayotte. She attended school in Hamlin, as well as Gates Business College in Augusta, where she was a member of the Pi Rho Zeta Sorority.

Mrs. Belanger was predeceased by her first husband, Frederick Willett on April 20, 1952; and a son, Michael Willett on March 21, 1966, both of Augusta. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Aurele Belanger on Oct. 18, 2014, as well as seven sisters and eight brothers.

Mrs. Belanger worked as a cloth inspector at the old Edwards Manufacturing Co. in Augusta and also was a waitress at the former Hotel North for many years. She married Aurele Belanger of Caribou on August 28, 1965, and worked as a waitress at the Hotel Caribou until its closing in 1976. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and had a life membership in the National Home. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was past president of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary of Caribou, as well as past member of the Parish Council and lector at Sacred Heart Parish in North Caribou. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann Sodality and a former communicant of St. Maximillian Church in Scarborough.

She and her second husband lived in Caribou many years. They later moved to Augusta and were there for 14 years before moving to Scarborough so they could be closer to family members.

She is survived by her daughter Kathlyn Willett of South Portland, daughter Donna Willett Kendall and her husband John of Biddeford, and bonus daughter Arlene (Belanger) Vaillancourt of Scarborough; seven grandchildren, Kelly Pride and husband Andy of Standish, Steven Taton and his wife Karen of Attleboro, MA, Tracy Kimball and husband John of Casco, Jessica Paul and husband Keith of Brentwood, NH, and Jeff Enman and wife Kathy of Limerick, Mark Belanger and wife Deanna of Phoenix, AZ, and Peter Vaillancourt and wife Kathlean of Biddeford. She is fondly remembered by her 11 great-grandchildren, Shana (Peppers) Webb, Deja Peppers, Kimberly Taton, Kevin Taton, Anthony Stevens, Zoey Kimball, John Kimball, Jr., and Alexis Paul, Barrett Belanger, James Vaillancourt and Thomas Vaillancourt; as well as her two special great-great-granddaughters, Dakota Marie Webb and Phoenix Marie Wescott.

The family would like to recognize two special nieces, Joyce Sirois Poulin of Yarmouth and Karen Sirois Haskell of Portland for being so devoted to their aunt. Their "Aunt Marie" thoroughly enjoyed being taken to some of the better restaurants to have lunch in her later years! Also, special mention to niece Homerine Cyr for staying in touch with her and visiting her when she could.
