Amos suffered from chronic heart disease. He was hospitalized with pneumonia at Barnes Hospital in 1930. He died there at the age of 50 years, 3 months and 24 days.
He was survived by his father; several siblings; and extended family members. Amos never married.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services were conducted at Kreigshauser Chapel on Manchester in St. Louis.
