Sister Bartlett died Tuesday (Jan. 19, 1999) in Chicago.
She was born Sept. 2, 1917 in Chicago, the daughter of George Patrick and
Blanche Dandurand Bartlett.
She entered the convent Feb. 12, 1936; took her first profession of vows Aug.
15, 1938 and her final vows Aug. 15, 1944.
Her first assignment was at St. Patrick School in Momence. She also taught there
later. She spent a total of 16 years at St. Gall School in Chicago when she
lived in her retirement after 1989.
She studied Spanish culture both in Chicago and Mexico and was a caticast and a
parish assistant in South America.
In 1977 and 78 she served as Hispanic Apostilatae in the Joliet Diocese.
She has been a local superior for various communities of the Sister Servants of
the Holy Heart of Mary.
She was the sister of Sr. Mary Blanche, SSCM; Patricia Anderson; Margaret
Riddlemoser; Father Richard, CMF; Father Roger; Anne (George), Mary Noonan,
Jerome, Blanche Fidler, Leah Miller and Elizabeth; and the aunt of many nieces
and nephews.
