Lucinda married Samuel Calvin Barnhart in 1856. They had five children, three of whom lived past infancy and survived her: John, Calvin, and Anna. She was survived also by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband died on Christmas Eve of 1862 while fighting in the Civil War at Lexington, Kentucky.
