George A. Whitebread died at the home of his son, Glen Whitebread, Saturday evening at 5 o'clock, May 16, 1914. He was born in Pennsylvania, August 6, 1847, and came from that state to Dixon, Ill., where at the age of 18 he enlisted in Co. L. 7th Regiment, Illinois Cavalry. He mustered out Nov. 4, 1865. From there he came to Glasco, Cloud County, KS., where he was united in marriage to Miss Laura Hostetler in the year of 1875. To this union were born seven children, all of whom survive him. Sons: Glen, Galen, Benjamin and Clyde. Daughters: Maude, Cload and Oril.
