Charles C. "Charlie" Brown, Jr., 68, died on May 3rd as the result of a traffic accident.
Charlie was born in Muncie, the son of the late Charles Sr. and Martha Ragland Brown. A student at Southside High School, Charlie left school his senior year to enlist in the Army and served as a ParaMedic, including serving in Vietnam.
Returning home, Charlie obtained his GED and a degree at Ball State, focusing on counseling and social work. Following years in the corrections field in Indiana and Pennsylvania, Charlie returned to Muncie and worked for Thomas Auditing before retiring in 2015.
A self proclaimed jack of all trades, master of non, Charlie was always involved in some project. Helping friends with home remodeling, landscaping, or working on cars.
His life was filled with a passion for fishing, hunting, music and motorcycles. And people. Charlie always had a smile and a story to tell, and he loved to make you smile. A corny joke, the tale of a hunting trip gone wrong or breaking out in song, he would get to you.
Charlie's loved and devotion to his family was unending. He served as surrogate Father, Grandfather and guardian for 4 generations. And he honored his friends with that same loyalty.
Charlie left behind his Mother, Martha Brown; brother Johnny Brown of Muncie; and sister, Kathy (Vince) Alt of Fort Wayne; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, 4 great-nieces, 2 great-nephews; and 3 great-great-nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank members of his brotherhood: John Saunders, Dawn Miller, Mike Collins, Mike Swearingen and all the people that loved Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his Father, sister, Connie Berg, and brother-in-law, Wendell Stephens.
There will be a private burial for Charlie with a celebration of life at a future time. Memorials in his name can be made to: Honor Flight Northeast Indiana.
