The son of Daniel & Elizabeth (Newcomer) Will, in 1860 he was a laborer living with his brother Benjamin in Conestoga Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and is in the 1863-65 draft registration still residing there.

A Civil War veteran, please note that the regiment used in the accompanying obituary is poorly stated and may lead to the erroneous conclusion that he served with the 50th Pennsylvania Infantry. He enlisted at the stated age of twenty-four in Lancaster June 20, 1863, during the Gettysburg crisis, mustered into state service there July 2 as a sergeant with Co. H, 50th Pennsylvania Militia, and honorably discharged with his company August 15, 1863.

He married Mary LNU. and fathered Charles K. (b. 11/19/66) and Mabel A. (b. 05/??/80 - married a Brainerd). He died at his home from "myocarditis" with "acute dilatation of heart" a contributing factor. Both his death certificate and the 1880 census list him as "Wills."
