Frank Robert "Mick" McVicker Sr., 83, of Painted Post, N.Y., formerly of Monongahela, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, in Corning Hospital, Corning, N.Y. He was born Oct. 30, 1921, in Monongahela, a son of the late Alexander Leitch and Gail Hamilton McVicker. He retired from Combustion Engineering in East Monongahela. For over 50 years, he devoted his time to his love of music. Mr. McVicker was an exceptional musician and taught music lessons for many years in Monongahela. He played with the former Stewart Arnold Orchestra, which entertained audiences throughout the Mon Valley area. Mr. McVicker was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Monongahela and a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in Europe. He was a former member of Sutman Yohe VFW Post 1409 and B.P.O. Elks Lodge 455, both of Monongahela. He is survived by three sons, John A. McVicker and Jolie Roy of Pittsburgh and grandsons Cory and Adam McVicker; Frank Robert McVicker Jr. and wife Debbie of Buffalo, N.Y., granddaughters Valerie and Mary Beth McVicker, and great-granddaughter Chloe Pilc; and Bruce H. McVicker of Monongahela; one daughter, Mary Gail Ervay and husband Hank of Painted Post, N.Y., and granddaughters Andrea and Adrienne Ervay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dora Frances Toretti McVicker, who died Aug. 25, 2001; two brothers, Alexander Hamilton "Ham" and Richard Wilson McVicker; and a sister, Sarah Marion Young. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the L.M. FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the Monongahela Firing Squad and Honor Guard.
