Mary Ellen Barker Reed, 84, of Wallace, passed away on Wednesday August 19, 2020. She was born on July 25, 1936 in Wetzel County, WV to the late Jess Gump and Helen Trader Gump.

She is survived by her children, Billie [Gene] Barker of Brown; Mary Elizabeth Burns and her husband Ronald of Auburn, Ind.; Jess Michael Barker and his wife Juanita of Brown; Burl Lester Barker and his wife Lisa of Brown; Steven Ray Barker and his wife Linda of Brown; Rebecca Elaine Chapman and her husband Natannis of Sardis; step-children, David Reed and his wife Cindy of Shinnston; sister, Karen Sue Hull Nelson of Tenn.; brothers, James Gump and his wife Barbara, Luther Gump and his wife Sue, Robert Gump, Roger Lee Gump and his wife Debbie; along with 83 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her [second] husband Arden Reed; son Robert Dewey Barker; daughters, Sharon Kay Boyce, Carol Ann Shaw and Mary Yvonne; sister, Phyllis Bake and Mary Elouise Gump; brother-in-law, Vaughn Blake; daughter-in-law, Linda Barker; first husband, Billie [Gene] Barker, Sr.

Some of Mary Ellen's favorites were the color of sky blue, being at the beach, puppies and anything sweet to eat. She cherished the memories of being with her children while taking them on picnics and going to the drive-in movies. Her favorite movies were "The River Boat Queen" and the original "Titanic" movie. Mostly Mary Ellen loved and treasured her family.

Friends and family will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike Street, Shinnston WV, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 21, 2020 and a funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2020 with Pastor Aaron Cayton officiating.

Interment will follow at the Brown Cemetery at Brown.
