James R. Becker, 83, former Frackville resident, passed away at Rest Haven, Schuylkill Haven, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday.

Born in Frackville, he was a son of the late John J. and Mary Weber Becker.

Jim owned Schuylkill Distributors for more than 40 years, which is now operated by his son, Charles.

In his earlier years, Jim enjoyed boating, playing golf and card games.

Due to his illness, he recalled "working on the truck" many times and always needed to go to the next customer.

Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Frackville, the Knights of Columbus, Auburn Boat Club and various fire departments.

Jim and Jean retired to Hawthorne at Leesburg, Florida, and enjoyed the Florida sunshine for many years.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, James.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean; three sons, James and his wife, Mary Ann, Samuel and his wife, Denise, and Charles and his wife, Beth; four grandsons, Jason, Matthew, Samuel and Gregory; a great-granddaughter, Amaya; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made in Jim's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., Seventh floor, New York, NY 10001. Private funeral service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
