Siamese princess and accidental drowning victim. A young life taken far too soon. She was a Princess of Siam (now Thailand) and was thus a member of the Siamese royal family, being the daughter of King Chulalongkorn (also Rama V), who gave her her full name, and Queen Consort Sunanda Kumariratana, who was also a half-sister and cousin of the king. She and her mother and unborn brother drowned when the royal boat capsized while on their way to the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace. Despite the presence of many onlookers, no one was able to help as commoners back then were forbidden by law on pain of death from touching any member of the Siamese royal family, not even to save his or her life. The grief-stricken King Chulalongkorn later erected a memorial to her, her mother and unborn brother at the Bang Pa-In Palace, and their royal cremation ceremony was performed by the king himself in Sanam Luang. Due to the tragic incident, the law forbidding anyone from touching a Siamese royal has since been repealed. May this beloved child rest in heavenly peace. (Note: Last names weren't legally required of Thai citizens until 1913, when the Surname Act 1913 was passed. Until then, most Thais used only a first name or a number of given names, some of them extremely long. Due to character constraints in the First Name field and since at least two characters are required to be placed in the Last Name field, Princess Kannabhorn's first three given names are placed in the First Name field while the fourth one had to be placed in the Last Name field instead.)
