Mrs. John L. Lain, an aged and well known widow woman residing at Lena Park, dropped dead in Mosher's store last Saturday afternoon about 4 o'clock. She had come to town earlier in the afternoon and had just paid her taxes at Weininger's office and purchased a new hat and pair of shoes and was buying some groceries at Mosher's, when without any warning she keeled over on the floor. An investigation quickly proved that life was extinct. The body was removed to the Mosher home over the store and later taken to the deceased's home at Lena Park. Heart trouble is responsible for the hasty end. Only a moment before she passed away the good woman remarked to friends in the store that she was feeling very well.
Deceased was 69 years old on March 5th of this year. Her husband preceded her in death about 5 years ago.
They resided in Wayne township for a good many years, coming here from Beardstown, Pulaski County, where they were united in marriage. They were the parents of 7 children, of whom 4 are living--3 sons and 1 daughter--Wayne, of Peru; Louis, of Kankakee; Henry, of Lena Park, and Mrs. Charles M. Reeg, of Round Lake.
Funeral services were conducted from the late home at Lena Park, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, in charge of Rev. Collier, and interment was in the old North Judson cemetery by the side of her departed companion.
