George W. Askin, Aurora resident for many years, died Wednesday, April 17, at 3:20 a.m., in Emanuel hospital, Portland, where he had been under care since April 4. The retired construction worker lived only two days past his 84th birthday.

Former neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. George Kraus, had been assisting Mr. Askin since he was unable to get about and following the death of his wife 10 year ago. He was born at Needy April 15, 1884.

His wife was the former Ida C. Miller, daughter of Aurora colonists, George and Emily Giesy Miller, to whom he was married March 25, 1914. His construction work included work on the Union depot clock tower in Portland, friends recalled.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m., in the Canby chapel of Everhart & Kent. The Rev. William Borgman of Aurora Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora cemetery

Funeral services were held Friday, April 19, in the Canby chapel of Everhart and Kent mortuary. Interment was in the Aurora cemetery.
