Obituary for Thomas Wayne "Tommy" Mallett
Thomas Wayne Mallett, "Tommy" to all who knew him, died Friday, August 21, 2020 in a tragic boating accident. Tommy was the middle son of the late Harrell and Tillie Mallett and the grandson of the late Fred and Virda Mallett and the late John and Alice Gerkens.

Tommy had a love of the water that started as a young boy. He, his daddy and brothers spent many a weekend boating and fishing around their home near Back Bay and later in the waters of Fort Bayou. His daddy also instilled in him a love for hunting, a joy that continued his whole life.

Tommy attended St. Martin and Notre Dame High Schools, but was so much happier in the outdoors. He began work as a deck hand on the large shrimping boats, but his true career began when he hung his first board of sheetrock, later founding DK Rocks Sheetrock and Painting Company. He was known throughout the area for his exceptional work and at the time of his death was the retired project manager of Arbor Properties.

Tommy was Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D'Iberville. He was recognized by the Diocese with The Lumen Christi Award for his work at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church donating time, talent and treasure to the building and repair of the facilities there, including the homes for the retired priests.

Tommy never met a stranger and his life was full of adventure. Our lives will never be the same without him.

Tommy is survived by his children, Dwayne, Kyle (Jennifer), Delaney and Karsyn Mallett; his grandsons, Gabriel Mallett, Traven and Thomas; his siblings, Debbie (Steve) Pitzer, Dr. Johnny Mallett and Dr. Presley (Tara) Mallett; his nieces and nephews, Christina (Greg) Mason, Amy (Mike) Bain, Steven, Michael and Brandon Pitzer, John Thomas Mason, Ansley Bain, Dr. Ian Mallett, Samuel and Joshua Mallett, Dr. Robby (Shanel) Williams and Joseph Williams; very special friend, Jo Lyn (Morris) Hitt; and more loving family and friends that could possibly be listed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until Mass time.

Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve this family.
He started every day with a text and this should end the same way: "I Love ya'll." God speed Tommy.
