Dr. William F. Barber, for ,many years a resident of Lewisburg, died suddenly at his home on South Second street, on Sunday, September 13, 1931.

Dr. Barber was born at White Springs, Union County, Oct. 1, 1850. His youth and young manhood were spent in Mifflinburg. In 1875 he came to Lewisburg where he at once began the practice of dentistry which he continued until the time of his death.

For many years he was actively engaged in the work of the National Guard. When the original Company A was organized he enlisted and served from Corporal to Lieutenant Colonel holding the latter rank until his age of retirement. He was a member of the Presbyterian church where he acted as President of the Board of Trustees.

Those surviving him are: two daughters, Mrs. Ross W. (Frances) Rohn, of Baltimore, MD., and Miss Florence Barber, of Lewisburg; two sisters, Miss Jane V. Barber of Lewisburg and Miss Sarah Barber of Pittsburgh.

Funeral services were held from his late home on Wednesday morning. Burial was made in the local cemetery.
