Son of David R Bunker & Deidamia (or Diademia) née Carpenter who were married in Massachusetts on October 14th, 1804, he was a middle child of a large family (12 or 13 children). His father was the son of Richard E Bunker (1756-1817) & Eunice Mitchell (1749-1825) while his mother was the daughter of Dr. Amos Carpenter (1755-2832) & Hannah Hunt (1757-1795).

An early settler of Kane County, Illinois he married Maria Ann Howard, youngest daughter of Aaron Howard & Permelia Brown, on May 11th, 1837 in St Charles, Illinois. The couple returned to New York for a few years (where their first two children were born) before returning to Illinois & settling in Geneva (where their next seven children were born).

Father of Caroline, Charles, Lucy, Frank, Ida, Homer #1, Homer #2 and twins Marion & May. (See his wife's link for details on the children).
