Services were held last Wednesday at Greenscreek Baptist Church for Mrs. Amanda Dyess, 66 years of age, who died Tuesday at her home near Carson after an extended illness.

Mrs. Dyess, a member of a pioneer family, had lived all her life in this county.

She leaves five sons, R. D., floyd, Ottis, Toxey and Reggie Dyess of Carson; six daughters, Mrs. O. B. Prine, Columbia; Mrs. J. M. Pierce, Mrs. Lawrence White, Mrs. Leon White, Mrs. Newton Reid, all of Carson; Mrs. Gore, Hattiesburg; her mother, Mrs. B. J. McPhail, Carson; three brothers, Hay McPhail, Louis William McPhail, Myersville; Luther McPhail, Carson; three sisters, Mrs. J. L. Dyess, Mrs. G. W. Dyess, Carson; Mrs. C. R. Raynes, Columbia.

The Rev. Charley Nobles and the Rev. Joe Nobles officiated. Burial was made in Greenscreek Cemetery.
