Michael Parker, age 61, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa Parker; daughter, Peyton Parker; son, Deacon Parker; brother, Nathan(Mira) Parker; nieces, Christine Elliott, and Amanda Spradlin; mother Barbara Graves; and his cat Billy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett Parker; and his father-in-law, Duel Moore.

Michael was a lifelong resident of Cullman County, Alabama. He was a graduate of Cold Springs High School, Bremen, Alabama, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He was a retired educator. He taught Biology, Anatomy, and Psychology at Cold Springs High School for more than 30 years.

Michael was also a minister. He accepted his call to preach the Gospel at the age of 19. He had pastored at Brickyard Baptist Church, and Salem Baptist Church, both in Cullman, Alabama. Throughout his ministry, he preached innumerable revivals and Sunday services at churches throughout Cullman and Walker counties.

Michael was also a founding member of a Bluegrass gospel quartet, the Ben Self Mountain Boys. He sang with the quartet for several years, as they traveled throughout portions of Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.

Visitation was held Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Kinney Grove Baptist Church in Bremen, Alabama. Funeral service and burial was Monday, August 31, 2020 also at Kinney Grove Baptist Church.

Cullman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
