James S. Richmond "Arizona"

February 17, 1940 - August 28, 2020

James Richmond, 80, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Friday August 28, 2020 at his home in Rolling Prairie, IN. surrounded by his family.

He was born February 17, 1940 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of John W. Richmond and Anna (Adrian) Richmond.

James was a member of the Harmon Gray American Legion Post 83, the VA of Mishawaka, the Eagles, and the IBEW Railroad. James was very fond and enjoyed karaoke and was better known as "Arizona". He enjoyed fishing, camping with his family, coaching baseball, as he did with his grandkids. He was a fan of the WWE wrestling, anything to do with UFO's and Bigfoot Mysteries, and he was a star gazer. He was most known for loving his Hersey's Chocolate Bars and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. He enjoyed his love of chocolate with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by taking them for walks and rides to get said chocolate while making up little songs to go with the occasion. (But we all mustn't tell mommy, grandma we are getting the candy bar!)

On March 3, 1962, in La Porte, IN, he married Judith (Rosentreter) Richmond who survives.

He is also survived by his daughter, Christi Lyn (Larry) Richmond-Steinbeck of La Porte, IN; a brother, Levi (Tracy) Richmond of Mesa, AZ; three Grandchildren, Brittni Ann Marie Richmond-Steinbeck, Jessica Hall, and Larrisa (Drew) Steinbeck-Heath.

James "Arizona" was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Christopher Dean Richmond; a brother Ed Richmond, sisters, Nettie Koepke, Virginia Nauyokas, Agnes Lee, and Judy Raska-Scott.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept 3 from 4 -7 PM. A life celebration will be held at 7 PM at the funeral home with officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Cremation to follow.
