He was born in Greene,RI. He was the son of the late Charles H. and Ethel (Shenton) Mitchell. He had lived in Coventry before moving to ME.
Charles served in the South Pacific during World War II in the Navy.
He was a Weaver at Valley Lace, had worked for Coventry Public Works and was Special Officer for the Coventry Police. Charles was a Past President of the Methodist Men's Club, a past master of the Travel Masonic campers, a member of Ionic Lodge #28 F. & AM, the Order of Eastern Star, the Good Sam's, LCI Assoc., VFW # 449, and the Phillips, ME Men's Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Roger C. Mitchell of Mansfield, MA, two daughters Wendy M. Mitchell of Matthews, NC, Nancy L. Mitchell of Glocester, and 4 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Edward Mitchell.
He was buried with Military Honors.
