He was the husband of the late Doris E. Abelson to whom he had been married for fifty seven years at the time of her death in 2004.
Carl was born in Providence. He was the son of the late Carl J. and Esther (Johnson) Abelson, Sr. and had been a resident of Seekonk, MA for most of his life.
He was a building contractor, known as Abelson General Contracting, building homes in the Seekonk and Barrington areas for many years until his retirement. He had been a member of the former Friendship United Methodist Church in Providence, served in the Navy during WWII, a member of the VASA Order of America and was a graduate of Cranston East High School.
He is survived by three sons, Guy Abelson of Providence, Neal Abelson of Seekonk, Mark Abelson of Los Angeles, sister Thelma Dawson of Cranston and two grandchildren Annie and Carl Abelson both of Seekonk.
